EXPECTING & NEW PARENTS

Prep for your bundle of change

Rhona chose to become a Relationship Coach a dozen years ago to help expecting and new parents capably navigate the momentous shifts that occur with the arrival of a baby. While her clientele now includes other types of relationships, like parents with kids of all ages and co-parents, she remains committed to assisting you as you transition from a life, and partnership, without children to the wild, wonderful, and woolly world of parenthood.

While the fourth trimester and beyond are when conflict typically increases and relationship satisfaction dips, that is also when you no longer have the bandwidth–time, energy, finances–to tend to your relationship. The prenatal period offers the ideal time to prep your relationship for your bundle of change…even if you’re convinced that the tensions you witnessed among your new parent friends could never happen to you and your beloved. Trust the research: New parents have good reason for struggling, including that prenatal patterns persist and get exacerbated by sleep deprivation.

Rhona guides you on your journey to parenthood, and assists you in the thick of postpartum overwhelm. She works with you to:

Prepare for, normalize, reduce and, whenever possible, avoid a rise in conflict and drop in relationship fulfillment common among new parents.

Focus on your unique relationship challenges, postpartum fears, and parenting priorities.

Tailor Prep for Parenting–a  7-week coaching program–to your vision of teamwork and a focus on: Tips to support your baby’s healthy development, insights into how your relationship impacts your baby’s wellbeing, tools to avoid common postpartum fights, repair strategies for conflict,, and ways to foster intimacy.

Rhona is certified by the Coaches Training Institute and a graduate of the Center for Right Relationship’s program in Organization & Relationship Systems Coaching. With her colleague, Tina Stanley, LCSW, Rhona co-authored Fight Right for Your Baby: The How-Guide for Expecting and New Parents to Shift from Conflict to Connection (due date: Spring 2023). Rhona is a Gottman Educator for Bringing Baby Home and a Gottman Workshop Leader for The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. She is currently enrolled in Level 1 of the Couples Institute’s Developmental Model training. Rhona has been delivering continuing education workshops to perinatal and postpartum professionals for a decade, with a focus on stress management, reducing parental conflict and enhancing relationship fulfillment. She is a credentialed Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation. She shares her unique journey to parenting in this spoken word birth story.
